    Description

    This is a set of 17 American Encaustic Tile Company amber fireplace surround tiles c. 1890. Each tile features a beautiful, warm amber glaze and measures 6" x 6".  The "A.E. Tile Co" mark is on the back of each tile.
    Measurements: Each tile is 6" x 6", The full surround, if assembled as shown, measures 42"W x 36"H with a firebox/opening of 30" x 30".
    Condition: Very good condition for tiles over 130 years old! Each tile shows expected crazing, minor surface scuffs and minor chips (photographed).
    History: These tiles were carefully salvaged from the Al Bennett House in Knoxville, Tennessee, as seen on the DIY Network Show "Salvage Dawgs", Season one, Episode 13.
