1890's Narrow Cast Iron Fireplace Surround

Narrow Antique Late 1800s Cast Iron Fireplace Frame - Surround  The outside dimensions are 24-1/2" wide and 30-1/4" high... The opening dimensions required are 28-1/4 inches high by 20-1/2" wide. The side uprights and the top cross piece is 1-7/8"  wide, the inside scalloped piece is about 2" in depth.. the outside edge is 1/2 an inch thick That means it would stand out from the surface of your wall 1/2 inch. The detail on the cast iron is sharp and the casting itself is a substantial thickness. There are no cracks or chips on the outer surface of this item. The cast iron is oxidized. It has a great patina look which can be easily blackened if you so desire or painted.This is the condition in which it was in when removed from the house. This could be used as is or cleaned up and painted or even better use wood stove polish and then buff it ...this comes out unbelievably nice like a black polished leather finish that's beautiful. Rutland wood stove polish is what I would recommend. The more you buff it the better it looks.This would take about an hour or so to restore with wire brushing and the stove blacking. If you are thinking of painting the item heat paint would be recommended if you were planning to use it with a fire burning in the fireplace.This is a very beautiful piece it is old it is vintage it is unique it has a beautiful pattern it is undamaged and it is not new or imported .
