This is a antique Brass with a cast iron leg decrotive item ... ... From what I found on line it is some type of antique fire place trivet ... ... With the cast iron leg in the down position the trivet will stand up like a door stop as in photos 1 & 2 ... ... I am not sure but I think if you undo the wing nut and turned the leg 180 degrees as in photos 8 & 9 you could put the two small brass legs on against the top of the hearth or log grate and put something on the trivet to keep warm ... ... The brass has a circular bellflower design to it ...  ... The back of the trivet has a stud and 2 guides for the mount of the cast iron leg as shown in photo 11 ... ... ... The back of the trivet has the markings RD No 95264 shown in photo 10 ... .... On the bottom edge it also has the numbers 1670 shown in photo 11 .....
