GEORGE III BRASS-BOUND MAHOGANY PEAT BUCKET OF NAVETTE FORM
With original brass bucket lining; circa early-to-mid 19th century
Item # C104012
This fine George III peat bucket is of navette form with a vertically staved tapering to the body using solid mahogany slats locked together with a broad upper and lower band and thin double-banding in the center. A single handle with half-looped ends is affixed to the bucket via clasps on either side of the uppermost banding. The original brass lining is removable and remains in very good condition.
Measurements: 13 3/8" H x 10 7/8" D x 15 3/8" W
Condition Report:
Excellent condition with good surface color and overall patination; bands have loosened over time due to the natural shrinking of the wood. Minor dings, abrasions and scars as expected.
