STORYBOOK CASTLE MOTIF
BEAUTIFUL BAS-RELIEF DETAILS
This charming and unusual hammered metal  fireplace screen, with it’s bas-relief and fanciful castle motif, is in very good vintage condition. Within a hammered metal circle there is the dimensional silhouette of a walled and towered castle and two trumpeters playing a fanfare. On the hammered base there is a Heraldic shield with the word “tower” within,  The screen looks magical with the glow of a fire behind it. A truly unique and special piece.
This unique fireplace screen would be a useful and beautifully decorative addition to your home.
The screen measures approx. 17 1/2” high and 17 1/2” wide. The metal has a burnished golden color to it. There looks to be a repair or a reinforcement on the metal “circle” on either side near where it meets the “castle” base (see photo). That said, the screen seems strong and sturdy.
This fireplace screen is a wonderful example of the design, artistry, and craftsmanship of metalwork design. It would be a unique and beautiful addition to your home.
