panels depicting Spanish Galleons at sea.  The provenance (history) of this box can be traced back to the early 20th century with only one family & has been passed from one member to the next until now.

is totally original with four metal wheels (casters),
an angled lid which is hinged at the back & lifts up for access.  This top, along with the front & two sides are encased with brass panels which have been hammered into a low relief design (repouss
é
) depicting Spanish Galleons at sea.  The wooden back panel has been left in its original state.
Brass, as you probably know, will not rust away quickly like iron & will last for generations to come.  This box is a fantastic quality, eye-catching, pirate style treasure chest & would be a tremendous addition to any open fireplace.  For those who don't have a fireplace, this would make a fabulous statement decorator storage box or re-purposed as storage for magazines, crafts, small blankets or wraps, crafts, pet toys, etc.
This unique kindling box is in EXCELLENT ANTIQUE condition, with minimal wear to the brass panels & age appropriate fatigue to the wood.  It is both functional as well as beautiful & will certainly be a statement piece in your home!

CONDITION
Many of my items are artisan, vintage, or fairly aged; accordingly, there may be some issues with individual pieces that are associated with the passage of time or the individuality of the artisan process.
I have looked each of them over to detect any major flaws. Any serious damage, fading or discoloration that I can perceive will be disclosed; however small flaws (i.e. imperfections in the glaze/paint, a slipped stitch, etc.) may be missed.
ALL OF MY COLLECTIONS HAVE BEEN STORED IN A TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT IN OUR SMOKE-FREE, PET-FRIENDLY HOME.
