Cast Iron Keyhole Andirons Pair Vintage Antique "Cutlass" Dogleg Very Unique
There is a design on the front of each (see pics).  Not sure if it's a flower or face
Definitely very well used but still structurally in great shape.  No cracks or major chips
The doglegs are very unique and appear to be shaped like a "Cutlass" sword
You can definitely tell these are hand cast (see the difference in the keyholes in the pics)
The doglegs appear to be hand welded in place rather than cast (see pics)
One dogleg may has a minor tweak (twist), probably from heat
Each measures approximately:
7 inch wide (across front legs)
13 1/2 inch long (front to back)
11 3/4 inch tall (to top of keyhole)
5 1/4 inch tall (to top of dogleg)
Keyhole at the top measures approximately 1/2 inch ID x 2 1/2 inch OD
These andirons are very heavy.  Each one weighs approximately 11 lbs.
There are no casting marks visible
I'm not sure how old they are but they are d
efinitely very unique pieces and look really cool.
I believe they are rather rare as I have not see any exactly like these on eBay or the intranet.
