English Cast Iron Fireback By Thomas Elsley "vintage" No cracks in great shape with natural aged patina!
We
are selling an English cast iron fireback by Thomas Elsley; Colonial Williamsburg Iron Company. The remarkable fireback presents with a centered royal coat of arms of King Charles I, flanked by a lion and unicorn with a lower ribbon. G and R are in raised relief on the front.
Casting by Thomas Elsley who was a prolific cast iron artist exporting many firebacks in his career. Measurements are: 24” at top of the crest; 21.75” wide; .75” thick; 19.75” from bottom of fireback to each side before the half moon arch. Wear consistent with age and use -rust on front which can easily be corrected by purchaser. Please ask if you have questions.
