$ 18.48

Availability: 70 in stock
  • Restocking Fee: No
  • Refund will be given as: Money Back
  • Condition: Please review the photos carefully. These andirons are being offered as is, as shown, leaving it up to the buyer as to whether they wish to do a restoration. The cast iron uprights are fully intact, with no cracks or repairs, and all the brass diamonds are there. There was surface rust on the feet, from setting in a damp basement, leading to some minor pitting on the feet. Sometime in the past 100 years, a previous owner cut off the back ends of both shanks, probably so they could fit the andirons into a shallow fireplace. Note the last two photos, which show what the shanks are supposed to look like. The original square-ended bolts that secure the shanks to the uprights are also present.

    Description

    Here is a very rare pair of Bradley and Hubbard cast-iron fireplace andirons, in a striking Arts & Crafts Mission style, with brass diamond insets. These were produced approximately 1910-1920. This is Model #3904, and in my online searches I have not found another example of this model of Bradley & Hubbard andirons. These andirons can be cleaned up to display as is, or the buyer may wish to do a full restoration. Fully restored, these will be beautiful pieces to set off your fireplace!
    The feet are 11-1/2 inches wide. The andirons are a full 24 inches tall. If you choose to restore the shanks, they should be made to measure 22-1/2 inches deep, measured from the front of the uprights to the back of the shanks. As they currently sit, the longer of the two shanks measures 18 inches deep. The last two photos show you what the missing portions of the shanks should look like if you wish to restore them to original appearance and function.
