Very Rare, Unusual Antique "LARGE DICE HEAD" Carnival or Circus Cane/Walking Stick, With Nicely Made, VERY LARGE, BAKELITE Folk Art Handle, c.1920-1930D
ESCRIPTION:
Scans show it all.....Very nice, great looking antique BAKELITE DICE HEAD CARNIVAL OR CIRCUS cane with very large dice head "folk art" DESIGN HANDLE. I have seen similar ones with animal or dog head or dice ceramic handles, but this is the first LARGE bakelite head I have seen. Bakelite was one of the earliest forms of plastic. Nice red color and transluscent. Dots are indented and painted white.
These were given as prizes for winning various carnival or midway gambling/skill games at circuses, carnivals or fairs
. Measures about 37" from one end to the other. The dice on top is larger than anything I have on this type of cane, measuring almost 1 1/2" square.
In excellent condition overall. It will be a great decorator, or a great addition to an antique cane or walking stick collection. Or a great addition to a circus or carnival collection. COULD ALSO STILL BE USED, AND PROVIDES A GREAT, STYLISH, DAPPER, LOOK!! Would make a great, prized, unusual gift.
From my personal collection.
A very nice, very unusual cane, both the early bakelite top and the dowel wood shaft.
