Description

Here's a superb vintage solid Copper Coal Scuttle or Hearth Ash Bucket.  It's really a handmade piece of art, being made in Italy by Casagrande in Palia.  Dates to the late 1940's to early 50's.  It has a strong classic Arts & Crafts style with hand hammered copper surface. Maker's mark on the bottom. It stands about 18" tall, plus the swivel bale.  It's shaped like a SEA SHELL on the backside.  The bail has incredible style with distal taper towards both ends with deeply hammered surface.  Distinctive rope trim along the edge.  It has great original dark patina from decades of sitting next to the fireplace.  Normal wear from 70 years of use but no damage.   It certainly could be easily polished bright if the new owner prefers.
