Vintage 18” Kindling Box Embossed Brass Over Wood Fireplace Chest Dutch Windmill

The exterior measurements of this box are about 18” wide, 12” deep, and 14” tall. The inside is about 16” wide, 10” deep, and a slanted height of 9.5-12”. It has embossed Dutch windmill scenes on brass that is nailed to a wood frame. There are no signs of who made it or what country it was made in. The box exhibits typical signs of wear from being used. The brass on top is dulled, has three nail holes, a small rusty spot, has several dented edges, and there is a gradual “rippling” effect. The brass on the front and sides have worn, but shiny finishes.
The back has a 5” scrap of wood nailed to it, likely put on by a previous owner to help support the weight of the lid when open. The black metal piece on the underside of the lid has several nails missing from the edges. I can hear little bits of something rattling when I open the lid. Whatever is making the noise is stuck between the top brass piece and the wood. In order to remove the little bits, you would have to remove all nails around the lid holding down the brass.
