Antique Ea. 1800's Georgian / Federal Cast Iron Open Fire Grate Basket Fireplace & Ash TrayFor your consideration is an very interesting fire place set
Cast iron fireplace back with grate for fire basket
It stands on 4 feet. The front ones are beautifully elaborated in claw and ball form. The back pair is with wheels, suggesting the grate was meant to be portable and movable
The back is stylishly decorated with an oval rosette in Georgian/Federal taste
The set includes an oval, two-handle tray, possibly for heating/cooking. It could've been an ash tray as well, if placed underneath
We are not very sure how exactly the set was placed and used, additional research will be beneficial
During Georgian times the fireplaces
were designed to be a focal point of the room and the fire to be visible
There are some numbers 1508, 1508 and 22 at the base, indicating possibly the model and foundry
Circa early 1800's, Federal/Georgian/Regency Era, Anglo-American
